How to Preach Biblically: Practical Tips (Part 2)
Faithful preaching is not primarily about being clever, emotionally compelling, or even immediately practical—it is about clearly communicating what God has said and allowing the weight of the text to do its work. In this second part of How to Preach Biblically, I want to offer several practical preaching tips that grew out of a recent Simeon Trust workshop. These are not rigid formulas, but pastoral guardrails—lessons that help preachers remain faithful to the author’s intent, resist common preaching mistakes, and apply Scripture through a genuinely gospel-shaped lens. My hope is that these insights will help pastors and teachers preach sermons that are clearer, more text-driven, and more spiritually honest—without resorting to shortcuts that unintentionally weaken the message of the passage.
